Bowel Health

A gentle, whole‑body approach to constipation, straining, pelvic dyssynergia, and incomplete emptying.

Bowel symptoms can feel frustrating, uncomfortable, and sometimes even embarrassing — but they’re incredibly common, and you don’t have to manage them alone. Whether you’re dealing with constipation, straining, difficulty emptying, or unpredictable bowel habits, pelvic floor therapy can help you understand what’s happening and restore comfort and confidence. I offer one‑on‑one, whole‑body care in a private, calm environment designed specifically for women.

Common Bowel Symptoms I Treat

  • Constipation or difficulty passing stool

  • Straining or pushing to have a bowel movement

  • Feeling like you can’t fully empty

  • Pelvic dyssynergia (the pelvic floor tightening instead of relaxing)

  • Stool leakage or smearing

  • Postpartum bowel changes

  • Bowel symptoms related to perimenopause or menopause

  • Bloating or abdominal discomfort associated with pelvic floor tension

Why Bowel Symptoms Happen

Healthy bowel movements rely on a coordinated relationship between the pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, diaphragm, and nervous system. When the pelvic floor is too tight, too weak, or not relaxing at the right time, bowel movements can become difficult or incomplete. Factors like pregnancy, childbirth, hormonal changes, stress, posture, movement patterns, and daily habits can all influence how your bowels function. A whole‑body assessment helps us understand the root cause so we can treat the true source of your symptoms.

How Pelvic Floor Therapy Helps

Pelvic floor therapy supports bowel health by improving relaxation, coordination, strength, and awareness of the pelvic floor and surrounding muscles. We’ll work on:

  • Pelvic floor relaxation and coordination

  • Abdominal massage and mobility

  • Breathing mechanics for bowel support

  • Core and hip strength

  • Toileting positioning and habits

  • Fiber, hydration, and lifestyle strategies

  • Nervous system calming techniques

  • Gentle manual therapy when needed

You’ll learn how your bowel system works, why your symptoms are happening, and what you can do to feel more comfortable and confident.

What to Expect in Your Sessions

Your sessions are always one‑on‑one in a private, supportive environment. We begin with a whole‑body assessment, discuss your goals, and create a plan tailored to your stage of life — whether postpartum, perimenopause, menopause, or beyond. You’ll receive clear education, gentle guidance, and practical strategies you can use right away.
